ASSESSMENTS
We employ various assessments to group students according to their developmental levels and to continually monitor their progress, allowing us to tailor daily instruction. Additionally, students are organized into mixed groups for non-core subjects.
Assessment's We Utilize:
OGOA’s Orton-Gillingham Designed Benchmark Assessment: for decoding and encoding of the 6/7 syllable types for literacy (3x/year)
Perceptions Math Pre/Post Tests for each module
SPIRE Assessments:
The Specialized Program Individualizing Reading Excellence (SPIRE) is a multi-sensory reading intervention program that integrates phonics, phonological awareness, fluency, spelling, vocabulary, handwriting, and comprehension. These assessments help tailor instruction to meet each student's needs, ensuring effective learning and progress.
Initial Placement Assessment (IPA): This proprietary test identifies which phonological skills students have mastered and determines their starting level in SPIRE. The IPA comprises five tests administered one-on-one by teachers.
Placement Assessment: Used to assign students to the appropriate SPIRE level based on their individual skills, rather than their grade level.
Pre- and Post-Level Test: These assessments measure students' mastery of concepts at each level, with results compared to track growth over time.
Mid-Level Test: Conducted to evaluate students' mastery of the first half of a level, focusing on spelling and decoding skills.
Concept Assessments: These tests gauge students' understanding of specific lesson concepts, ensuring they grasp essential skills.
Concept Mastery Fluency Drills: These drills measure the number of words correct per minute (WCPM), providing a clear indicator of reading fluency.
